Context and Opportunity
Growth-stage small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are a key driver of economic transformation and job creation across Africa with a strong potential to scale rapidly, attract institutional capital, and generate sustained productivity gains. However, many growth-stage SMEs face weaknesses in strategic finance, governance, investor readiness, leadership effectiveness, and talent development impacting fundraising success and operational scaling.
At the same time, the SME support ecosystem remains fragmented. While numerous programmes operate across the continent, few combine quality, affordability, contextual relevance, and scalable delivery in a way that meets the needs of growth-stage SMEs. Without systemic, scalable capability-building solutions, these constraints will continue to limit SME growth and, by extension, broader economic expansion and job creation.
